An antique cast-iron insert in deep-black cast iron, richly decorated with finely cast flowers and foliage. An insert to accompany a fireplace, giving the hearth opening a refined, classic frame.<\/p>\n
The frieze above the opening is worked with gracefully curling tendrils that fan out to both sides from a central flower, a symmetrical, classic composition. Each side panel carries a rising floral stem tied at the base with a finely knotted ribbon, an elegant detail that emphasises the vertical line. The whole is framed by a continuous bead moulding, which neatly encloses the floral work and lends the casting extra delicacy.<\/p>\n
The deep-black cast iron catches the light along the lines of relief, so that the floral work gains depth and comes beautifully to life. A refined insert that gives the heart of the fireplace character and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n
The antique fireplaces on my website are fully restored and available from stock. Transport and installation are made easier because the fireplaces are supplied pre-assembled. Each fireplace is cleaned and freshly treated with marble wax, restoring its original deep lustre. This maintenance-free marble wax also gives the fireplace a dirt- and water-repellent layer.<\/p>\n
