The entire surface around the opening is filled with a diagonal lattice of diamonds, with a finely cast star-shaped flower at every intersection. This regular pattern runs calmly across the frieze and both side panels, so that the insert reads as one coherent whole. A continuous moulding frames the hearth opening and keeps the pattern neatly contained.
The dark cast iron catches the light across the countless small points of relief, so that the surface subtly comes alive and the fine casting gains depth. A refined insert that gives the heart of the fireplace character and craftsmanship.
