A beautiful antique fireback in good condition and wonderfully large format. The plate was probably a wedding gift, given the two rings that form the figure 8. Dimensions: height 88 cm, width 98 cm. Weight approx. 100 kg.
A fireback is a decorative antique plate made of cast iron. It is placed against the back wall of an open fireplace for decoration and to reflect the heat of the fire. If you have a wood stove, a fireback can also be placed behind the stove. Antique firebacks can also be used as a splashback behind a cooker or as wall decoration.
