This refined French antique fireplace is a beautiful example of 19th-century artisanal craftsmanship. The design is characterised by an elegant leaf motif at the centre of the front – a classic symbol within French ornamentation – complemented by subtle leaf motifs on both the front and the corners of the consoles.
The consoles are set at a slight angle, which gives the fireplace a dynamic and airy appearance. This placement creates a beautiful openness in the form and emphasises the natural curve of the front panel. The multi-layered mantel shelf follows the curve of the front and thus forms a harmonious whole with the underlying structure. The curve in the front reinforces the gracefulness of the whole and gives this fireplace a pronounced classic appearance, without becoming excessive.
